Burn off after cook

So my manual for my pb850ps2 says at then end of the cook just press power and let it do its thing.

I have read a few times that when done a cook specially if a fatty one to crank it to high once it gets there let it burn off for 5 minutes and then shut down.

Who does what?

On my PBV4PS2 smoker, I set it to 400 deg and let it stay there for 20 minutes then shut it down after a smoke.

I'm not one of the foil people on here so I'll definitely bump it up to 400 to char anything up that will scrape right off before the next cook.

I've been cranking it up to high, letting it go 400 plus for about 10 minutes then shutting down
