BIG test today... New Austin XL 1000 .. Only a 5lb brisket.. Not taking a chance on a $70 one right out of the gate... But what I have smoked on it im very happy....

let us know how it goes and can you tell me the temps you are hitting at the smoke settings. The first time I smoked on my Pro Series 1100 with the original controller I was getting 165 - 175 on Smoke at P4 never once seen it get to 185. That was one of the reason I bought the Savannah Stoker PID controller.
 
Its at 180-185 in smoke mode... Hopefully it turn's out delicious...

I hope Pit Boss new PID controller is better because this controller is a piece of crap having that much inconsistency from one customer to another customer. One guy in here was getting 185 - 200 @ P4 just a junk controller.

Question. I thought at smoking mode P4 temperature was suppose to stay around 180 to 200. That's what mine does. Is that wrong?
 
I always get 150-200 on P-4 smoke setting on my grill. My vertical actually has a lower temp on smoke setting and never gets above 150.

It depends on the weather and brand of pellets, but yes your temp from 180 - 200 is perfect that is where you want your P4 running between those temps anything below 180 is not ideal at all.
