About to buy my first smoker

Hey all, new to the smoking game! Excited to see what this forum has to offer a new guy!!
So i am about to snag (my first smoker) by what appears to be a good deal on the MP a pit boss… the seller describes his ignitor not working and he cannot get it going, as the reason he is selling.
We Agreed on $75! Have yet to pick up..

Anyways, the grill looks to be in good shape in the pic.
Is this ignitor issue common, an easy fix, or is this a junk-it type issue that happens and everyone gets rid of them?
Are there other issues i shud ask the seller about?

Easy fix but make sure to check out the controller that it comes on.

Hey guys! Thanks! Well she turned on just fine… i think it is working… when i opened it up the auger looked gummed up with moist lookin pellets… so i broke it up some. Grabbed a handful of pellets and threw them in the ignitor, and it fired right up! Just letting it burnout and time to clean it up some! So far its a good $75 spent!

Welcome from New York! I've been smoking for 20 years. It is one of the great pleasures in my life. This group and the forums offer tons and tons of advice, tips, techniques, and recipes. Of all the forums I joined, this is by far the best. Others can be nasty, questioning everything, and have members who think they are the Gods of smoking. Sorry, life is way too short and the last place I need more aggregation is on a forum.

As to your question, it appears that it is working fine. My only advice, and there others who have more experience with this, is to maintain and clean the rig on a regular basis. I clean and vacuum my rig after 4-5 cooks. One last suggestion is to buy a quality cover and use it every day.

Ignitors are fairly cheap, and depending on what they look like, you might want to change out the fire pot, too. You can usually buy both for about $25.
