Even since I got my Smoker, when I first turn it on, the display is bright and clear. Then, as I begin smoking my meat, over the next 20 minutes to half hour, the display begins to fade until I can't see the temperature at all. I figure this has something to do with heat, and this last time tried putting a fan underneath the smoker blowing up on the unit but that may have slowed the process even though I removed the ash tray as well.
I have worked around it by putting an oven thermometer inside the unit that I can see through the glass and using a separate meat thermometer instead of the one in the electronics but I would love to have my smoker working the way it is supposed to.. but perhaps not designed properly to. I know this is not just me and I'm hoping somone has figured how how to resolve this issue. thanks

Welcome from Texas to the group !!
First thing I’d check is the connections and the fuse. If it’s good there then I’d call PitBoss support
Could be a issue with the controller
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thanks... i called the support line and got this recording. "There are 154 callers in queue". I'm 78 years old.. I don't think I'd live long enough to get to the end of that queue.
I don't think it could be the fuse because the next time I use the smoker.. the display is bright as ever... for a while.. but I'll try cleaning the connections... that may help.

There's your sign.
