4 window flame tamer

What is the best position to put the four window flame tamer on a pit boss 850 DX

I wondered the same, I ended up putting the smaller openings ( front and back ), thinking the grill is longer than wide. More heat going left and right of the burn pot ??

I've had 3 smokers, a Trager, a Pit Boss 850 and now a Zgrill 11002b. Out of all of them the Zgrill has the most stable temp throughout the inside vooking surface. I saw a guy do a biscuit test with a bunch of different smokers and the Zgrill was the best. Also ive tried several temp probes and the best i have found is the IQ wireless.
