Installed 2 thermometers in the lower corners of the hood right and left just about an inch above the grates.
Also installed a bottle opener because I really needed one.
Now I know the left side is hotter than the right side, will modify the bottom of the broiler plate to even out the heat, with some sheet metal and the welder.

Are the temps on the gauges close to what the display is reading? Nice upgrade on the door since the 850 doesn’t come with a thermometer dial.
the gauge on the left is very close to the display temp. but the right side is noticeably cooler.
the slant of the broiler plate causes the heat to rise to the left side.
I will create a fix for this when I have some time, already have an idea how to fix it.

Hope to see your fix when your done, I like modifications to make your grill work the way you want it to and improve the overall quality in the cook.

So I made a prototype heat shield to see if I can even out the temperatures left to right, the right was always alot cooler.
The first attempt and I have even temperatures. Set it to 250* the display says 250* left side 250* right side 250*
Success on the first attempt.
Will go up to 300 and see what happens.

So I set it up to 300* and the display says 300* the left side is at 300* and the right side is at 300*
I must be a genius to figure out how to fix this problem so easily.

So at 350* the lid gauges were showing 352* but same left and right which is a good thing. The wife didn't care but Toby was extremely happy.
Tools used for this prototype,

MKinHB, can you post pictures of the deflector plate installed in your PB850PS2 and the steps used to make it. If you already have a separate thread with the pictures and details, could you post the link to it. Much appreciated.

well I would like to make a new one first because the first one I made is from very this sheet metal. I am going to copy it from 10 ga. steel so it is made to last. then I will post the pics.
Meanwhile on my other thread I have made a new style slider for the broiler plate cover, also changed the plate cover to the old solid style to prevent the drippings to creep through the slots. Check it out on my other thread.

Can you post the thread your referring to?

Doing some ribs today, check out the even temperatures

.

Look at these temps. guys, they are the same on both sides, deflector is working as planned.

Going to 300* and both sides are even temperatures, very good results.
I have the pit poss 1100 pro series, I'm hotter on the right than the left, I also recall in my manual a heat diffuser, am I thinking correctly on that?
I think the 1150 has a heat diffuser that the 850 does not have. Unless mine is missing something.
I made a heat shield to even out the heat.
