Make rub. Apply, plastic wrap in fridge overnight. 14 hours on Pit Boss. 12 inch pellet tube in beginning. Disappointed in flavor of smoke. Oh well, put in crockpot and shred. Wake in morning to find crockpot on low. My mistake, not bad after all. Just a taste with bread and Franks hot sauce. Now to make my sauces.

Curious what model you have.
It's a common thing to see here, (lack of smoke) but it's also a common misconception that the PitBoss grills are smokers.
They are not. It's cooking on wood fire at it's core, I think if you are using a smoke tube as well, you may be onto a good thought with adding a bit of wood chip with the pellets.

It is the Lexington model. In its list of features it states
  • Grill, smoke, bake, roast, sear, braise, barbecue or char-grill to perfection.

I hear ya! It's a common question here about how to get more smoke in the smoker :p
They are not really smokers in a traditional sense. I know my PitBoss has a smoke setting, but even then, without additional smoke tube it never gets that level I attained with my vertical smoker. That being said, I haven't fired up my vertical in over a year. Still love what I can achieve on my PitBoss with a few learning curves and additional smoke.

As an aside, my Honda Accord has "luxury" features, but no-one sees me driving down the road and says,,, HEY, Nice luxury car you got there  .
