Not sure about tumbling, but I read somewhere to mix them with your choice of wood pellets in a certain percentage (50/50, 60/40, etc). Experiment until you get the mix that works for you. Maybe that will help. I bought some charcoal pellets to try out to see what sort of difference they make...
I’m smoking a 7 + lb pork shoulder today. I set the P setting to 1 and went through the PB startup procedure. Set dial back to smoke setting and the temps are now (about an hour or so in) steady at about 200 at middle of lid thermometer, and 220 -230 on the digital screen. Fire didn’t go out...
Sounds like exactly what happens to me! I take the meat off & set aside, take the grates and shield out, clean out the burn pot, reassemble, and restart. It’s a pain in the butt, but gets the meat back on the grill in about 45 min! 😊 Then I just set it at 225 and let it go.
I believe mine is time based as it has the p setting. I have it at 4 or5, so maybe I’ll try 2 or 3 which I think feeds the burn pot quicker. Thanks for comment!
This has happened several times - I follow the PB process to start up the grill . . . start out on smoke setting until smoke appears, close lid and turn up to 350 for about 15 min, then turn back down to smoke setting. After a while, temp drops, fire goes out, and burn pot overflows with...
I’ve found that a glass of wine is a very worthwhile “tool” lol! I have a Pb Pro series 820 from lowes. Not sure how even the temps are from right to left - does the heat deflector/shield attach by the burn pot or to the plate under the grates? How much of a difference does it make? I’m...
840 mg sodium per serving is a lot depending upon how they define serving. Most smoked or other turkey breast products in the grocery delis (Boarshead, etc.) have 500 or less mg / serving - usually a couple of slices.
I use about a 10 ft. extension cord on my PB 820 grill just to keep it and the smoke further from house. Did you take a picture or note which wires were removed before replaced? It sounds like it’s shorting or maybe wires are backward. Not sure if you can tell but same color wires should be...
