I’m pretty sure the K type T/C wire could be a problem. Type K is for temps above 1,000, type J is for temps below 1,000. I’ve dealt with both on industrial melting furnaces.
Guineabear: I have the small Tailgater. I’ve used it a lot for burgers, sliding the panel back. I’ve found that fat from the burgers drips down a lot and causes a small fire below. It’s great for other grill but you need to keep it clean after doing burgers.
It’s all working as it should now, motor and auger both. I can reach up in there and feel the shear pin, feels fine. I just noticed that the auger motor is not ridged, it kind of floats. I can’t see or feel any mounting holes or screws to keep it affixed solid. Other than that, it’s good to go...
MikeInFla after checking wires and retracing my igniter install I got it working, not sure what I touched but, it’s working. I noticed one thing though, the auger motor and fan move back and forth, does yours or is it ridged? I’ve been using hickory pellets and they seem pretty hard.

My auger was working fine the other day, my igniter went out. I replaced the igniter and it’s working but my auger won’t work now. Wiring looks fine, auger isn’t clogged, I can’t see or hear the auger even trying to operate. Any ideas? I assume if the fuse was blown, nothing would work. It...
