used for my tri tip cook yesterday. Worked well, no complaints. here is a screen shot at the stall, wrapped at 155.
4.5 hours unwrapped - at 155 deg
2.0 hours wrapped - pulled at 201 deg
2.0 hours in cooler
excellent results
I haven't used it yet, but reviews I read did not mention that as an issue. The spike communicates with the holder/charger which is a booster to communicate with the app on your phone.
Just ordered and received the new thermo pro spike. competition to the meater and meatstick, but cheaper.
Seems good quality, interface is pretty good, easy to use.
normally $99.00, $56.00with code below or find the link on TP website.
Will be trying it out this weekend hopefully

yep, found the same. ordered a couple from target. I like to mix with the competition. royal oak now has 100% charcoal, but they seem to be mail order only as well around here (from home depot)
has Walmart stopped selling the pitboss charcoal pellets? I found some at Target, but Walmart seems to be out all over Houston. I just picked up two bags at Lowe's of the competition, great price.
I have been pleasantly surprised with the set from Academy or Lowes from Oklahoma Joes. Comes with a brisket knife, boning and utility knives. I got on sale for only about $30. Not the quality of that you guys are talking about but with a good sharpen I have been impressed...
