Knotty woods bbq pellets…first bag …plum

All pellets I've used produce ash but some are better than others. Never heard of knottywood pellets. Have you tried any other brands.

    Ribs

They look real good. I just put on some pork back ribs, looking forward to eating this evening. I retired a couple years ago and I know just what you mean about the retirement plan getting whittled away by the current economy. IDIOTS in charge, getting more scary by the day, !!!!!

Hello all..new here from West Michigan

For smoking whole chickens, brisket, roast etc, I use a smoke tube and quite often load it with charcoal pellets to get a deeper smoke ring. On my 850 I place it in the back and middle setting on top of the grates. keep it away from where your temp probe for cook temp is located or it will...

Setting me and my pit boss up for some good smoking.

Welcome to the forum. I prefer to use a non stick cookie sheet, sitting on the grates with a raised wire screen cooling rack placed on the cookie sheet to allow the heat and smoke to get to the meat evenly. Easy clean up, but you'll still need to vacuum the ash out of the fire box and...

    Hopper grid removal?

Wild fires out there can really be dangerous. We lived south of Roseburg about 30 miles. Small town in the hills called Days Creek. My brother in law was a fire fighter for a number of years in that area. Glad he is out of it now.

    Hopper grid removal?

Someone correct me if I'm missing something with this solution, BUT - if the concern is to keep children's hands out of the auger whats to keep the kids from just lifting the grate off the new shelf brackets and then playing in the pellets and being in danger of the arguer. A simple latch for...

New PB850 Owner - Flame Broiler Foil/ Drip Pan?

I mainly use a dedicated non-stick cookie sheet and support the meat about 4 inches above that with a folding leg coated steel grate, to be able to get smoke all around the meat.. Works very well and cleans up real easy. Bought both at our local Menards for very little. Last thing I did on it...

    Hopper grid removal?

Removed mine too, but kept the grate and screws incase I wanted to put it back on if I decide to sale it. Sure is better when filling.

    Replace grills on 850

I have the same grill and tried cooking on the factory plate one time. Really a mess to clean up. Since then I've been using non stick or cast iron platters placed on the diamond grates. Depends on what I'm cooking. Makes clean up easy and smokes/cooks just as well. imho

    Temp probe accuracy

Big Yoder sure does make a class A grill and the price reflects it.
