Hi all,
Time for me with a game changer or add on, I have been smoking various meat and fish using the WMS (Weber Mountain Smoker) with huge success and reviews for 12 years.
Learned the basics and advance of smoking from a retired Pit Master judge. Yes I know, there has been quite a few of them.

I am about to get the 1000D3 unit. I have read a lot good about it and am anxious to pick this unit up today (May 25 - 2022).
Priced at 499 plus local taxes I think it is a fair price to start at.

Previously I have used plain briquets with the WMS and adding on with i.e apple or pear chunks depending what I been smoking.
However when it comes to pellets it seems to be another game field.
I have downloaded the manual, but it doesn't give me any indication of what pellet combo to use for various flavor.

Hope to hear from you with your ideas and inputs.

Thanks in advance

If you search thru the forums here you will find discussion on what you are looking for.
But beyond that I think its often down to personal preference. Like with spices..some like lots of heat, some don’t.
You could try small bags of this and that until you find your liking.

Welcome to the group. Pellet choice seems to be a personal thing. I've been into Bear Mountain for a while. I prefer their Apple and Gourmet blends. I've drifted away from Pitboss pellets but like their Classic and fruit blends. I've heard a lot of good about Lumberjack but haven't had the opportunity to try them yet. Good luck.

Welcome to the group!!!
I’ve used different pellets and use a smoke tube and layer pellets and wood chips for more smoke
Roll that smoke 💨!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thank you all, I truly like to become part of this forum (even though other looks at us as less:confused:)
I was considering the 1000 series but has settled for the 700 instead, no need for the extra space and use of pellets.
As mentioned before I have done a lot of smoking with various meat/fish with my WSM.
Previous input has mentioned and highlighted the brand of Bear Mountain, and I will certainly give them a try.
Thanks again for accepting me.

My recent research has given the way for Bear Mountain...... a hmm and why (Walmart) for the price

You learned on one of the best smokers ever made IMHO.....the WSM. I have 3 of them and just recently got the pit boss austin xl. so far it's been fun and I'm enjoying using it. Hope you have as much fun with it as I have so far.

So today, after checking various local retailer and their promotions, I settled with Lowes and the PB700FB1. This after a fantastic talk with Kyle at Pit Boss.
After some screwup from Lowes side I loaded up this boxed unit along with 60lb of mixed pellets and other accessories, my final cost with taxes was 409.54!
Just the PB came to 318.40 before tax.
Very pleased with that now I am looking forward putting this together and start the burn-in procedures.

Sounds like you are ready to start smoking. Have fun.

Cooking update!
I have been using the PB700 frequently during the past two months.
All with huge success.
After my first usage of the PB my wife asked me why we haven't got one long before!
Can I say I like my PB?!;)

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it's been working good for you. What's your favorite cook so far?
